A Lantern
by Willow Holloway

One ordinary day

A lantern went on

In the depths of my soul

It came upon the dawn

Cresting over the horizon

Like a torchlight

Illuminating my cavern of dreams

If I follow

As it reaches into me

A profundity fills me with awe

That I otherwise would have missed

How can it be

That awakening and presence

Are so ordinary,

Yet so miraculous?

An unsolvable mystery

One ordinary night

I found the moon

Upon my brow

Had struck a glowing chord

Within my skin

Luminescent, silver silk

If I follow

As it comes upon me

Like a second skin

A humming begins

That fills my soul with healing

How can it be

That dreaming into being

Feels like breathing?

All life-giving and magical

In one moment
